ReadZhongwen collects no personal data. No account, no sign-in, no tracking, no analytics, no advertising.
Word lookups, the recent-lookups list, and the simplified/traditional display preference are stored exclusively in the browser's extension storage on your device. This data never leaves your device.
The extension makes no network requests. All dictionaries and example sentences are packaged locally in the extension.
When you double-click a Chinese word, the extension reads that word's text from the current page in memory to look it up, then discards it. Page contents are never stored, transmitted, or retained.
Clear the recent-lookups list anytime from the popup. Removing the extension deletes all stored data.
